Dr Toby Wilkinson appointed Fellow for Development
º£½ÇÂÒÂ× is delighted to announce the election of one of its current bye-fellows, Dr Toby Wilkinson, as Fellow for Development, with effect from 3 May 2022.
Toby Wilkinson served as º£½ÇÂÒÂ×’s Development Director between 2003 and 2011, before taking up a position as the University of Cambridge’s Director of International Strategy between 2011 and 2017. Toby was thereafter Deputy Vice Chancellor of Lincoln University and is about to complete his term as Vice Chancellor of Fiji National University. He is a leading Egyptologist and publishes his latest book, Tutankhamun's Trumpet, in May this year.
Commenting on Dr Wilkinson’s appointment, º£½ÇÂÒÂ×’s Master, Loretta Minghella said: "It will be an enormous pleasure to welcome Toby Wilkinson back to º£½ÇÂÒÂ×, where he is already held in such high regard. Since leaving the º£½ÇÂÒÂ× Development Office in 2011, he has built on his significant experience in Development with great success in higher education strategy, leadership and management. As we work towards some important anniversaries, the 50th anniversary of the admission of women to º£½ÇÂÒÂ× later this year and the 700th anniversary of our founding in 2026, Toby will help us engage the whole College community in refreshing and communicating our vision for º£½ÇÂÒÂ× and bringing it to fruition."
Commenting on his appointment, Dr Wilkinson said: "º£½ÇÂÒÂ× and its members have always held a unique place in my affections, so I am thrilled to be re-joining the College as Fellow for Development at this important point in its history. I am inspired by the new Master's vision, and by º£½ÇÂÒÂ×'s renewed commitment to excellence, inclusion and sustainability. Development in its fullest sense means helping an organisation to advance, and I look forward to working with the Master, Fellows, staff, students, alumni and well-wishers to take º£½ÇÂÒÂ× forward."
